Melissa Sekzer-Kane- Director Melissa is a graduate of Touro College with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Special and General Education. She is a theater teacher for the New York City Department of Education. She also is currently the Assistant Director at St Joseph By the Sea HS for their spring musicals. She not only teaches, but has performed with countless groups around Staten Island including Seaview Playwrights Theatre and KillHer Entertainment. Melissa is a founding member of The Star Players and is proud of the growth it has accomplished and the future it’s headed for.
Robert Butler- Musical Director Rob currently works as a music teacher for various Catholic schools across the island. Rob served as the musical director for St. John Villa Academy until it closed June 2018. He currently serves as the musical director for St. Joseph Hill Academy. His past credits with Villa include; High School Musical, Fame, Avida, Legally Blonde, Sister Act, 9 to 5 just to name a few. He can also be seen playing drums in the pit for many different theatre groups across the island.
Alexandra Crocitto- Choreographer Alexandra is a graduate of The College of Staten Island with a Bachelor's degree in Communications: Digital Design and Marketing. She currently works as a makeup artist at French Twist Salon. She is a graduate of Talent Unlimited High School where she majored in Dance. She has worked with many different dance companies including Paul Taylor and Martha Graham. She can be seen performing on stage with different theatre groups on Staten Island. Her most recent credits include; Velma Kelly (Chicago- Standing Ovation Players) and Featured Dancer (Mamma Mia!- In The Wings Theatre Organization).
Sophia Amoroso- Choreographer Sophia is a recent of St. John's University and currently works for the board of education. She is a graduate of St. Joseph by the Sea High School, where she was apart of the theatre program for all 4 years. Her most recent theatre credits include; Ensemble (Chicago- Standing Ovation Players) and Arista (The Little Mermaid- Viking Players).
Nicole Colonna- Director Nicole is a graduate of Wagner College. It is there that she earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degree in elementary education. While attending Wagner College, Nicole minored in music, studied choral conducting, and was a member of the Wagner College Choir. During that time, she received vocal training, participated in vocal recitals, and served as stage manager in the college’s Performance Hall. As a founding member of The Star Players, Nicole has been their director and conductor since it began. Nicole is very happy to be able to pursue her two loves of teaching and music in her work.
Stephanie Langella- Assistant Director Stephanie currently works at Serenity Hair Studio as a stylist. Stephanie has been apart of the theatre community on Staten Island for many years, she can be seen performing with various theatre groups across the island. Her most recent credits include; Pinball Wizard (Tommy- Seaview Playwright Theatre) and Ensemble (American Idiot- Hemlock Theatre). Stephanie is a women of many hats she can be seen helping do a sound check or getting of our actors into wigs that she styled.
Christopher Crocitto- Stage Manager/Social Media Manager Christopheris a double alum of St. John's University where he received his Bachelor's degree in Communication Arts and his Master's degree in International Hospitality Management and Business Administration. He currently works as an event coordinator for Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Christopher also owns and operates his own custom dessert/event planning business. He can be seen stage managing shows all across Staten Island, most recently he was seen stage managing Mamma Mia! at The St. George Theatre with In The Wings Theatre Organization.
Briana (Kohm) Cleary- Production Assistant/Concession Stand Manager Briana has been with the Star Players for the past 15 years from being a cast member to being apart of the team, Briana is always there to lend a helping hand. Pre-show you can see her managing our concession stand, during the show she can be seen backstage moving set pieces and helping with quick changes.
Maryanna Guenther- Assistant Stage Manager Maryanna is a recent graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University doubling majoring in Musical Theatre and Childhood Education. She currently works at Our Lady Star of Sea as their music teacher. She can be seen performing with many different theatre groups across the Island. Her most recent credits include; Ensemble/Choral Vocals (Mamma Mia!- In The Wings Theatre Organization) and Ensemble (Chicago- Standing Ovation Players).
